1.Craftsman M105

No products found.

For something that’s heavy-duty and has a sturdy and reliable grass catcher, you can’t go wrong with the Craftsman M105. It’s gas-powered, making it an excellent choice for people who mow lawns for money.

If you’re intimidated by gas-powered mowers, then worry no more! It comes with a detailed set of instructions, guiding you through the whole process.

Once you get this badboy started, which normally happens on the first try, you’ll notice how maneuverable it is. Maybe because of the lightweight design!? Unfortunately, it isn’t self-propelled, so you’ll need to summon some extra strength when cutting the grass.

You’ll also notice how quiet it is! You could cut the grass in the middle of the night and the neighbors wouldn’t notice a thing. I wouldn’t recommend it though!

There are 6 cutting heights to choose from, catering to many different types of lawns. And that’s not even the best bit! You can also take advantage of the 21-inch cutting deck, which is perfect for up to ½ acre.

If you’re cutting larger lawns, I recommend getting something more powerful.

What I Like…

  • Reliable grass catcher
  • Gas-powered engine
  • Detailed setup instructions
  • Very quiet engine
  • 6 Cutting heights

What I Don’t Like…

  • It isn’t self-propelled
  • Not the best for larger lawns

Best Feature: Gas Powered

2.Greenworks 40V 16-Inch Cordless (2-In-1) Push Lawn Mower

Greenworks Push Lawn Mower
  • CORDLESS LAWN MOWER – Get more done, faster, with Greenworks electric lawn mowers. This 40v push lawn mower provides the power you need with up to 45 minutes of runtime on a fully charged 4.0Ah battery. The battery completely charges in 120 minutes.
  • LIGHTWEIGHT, EASY TO USE – A lightweight 16” cutting deck allows for easy maneuvering through small to medium yards (up to ½ acre) more efficiently. Easy push button start and lighter weight make it a great choice for your lawn.
  • VERSATILE – Battery powered lawn mower has a single lever 5-position height adjustment with a cutting height range from 1-1/4" to 3-3/8" for the best cut in all environments. The 2-in-1 feature offers versatile use with mulching and rear bagging options.

Looking for something more eco-friendly with an excellent grass catcher!? The Greenworks Push Lawn Mower may be the answer! For something that’s super lightweight and maneuverable, you’d think it would be cheaply made.

However, that’s not the case.

It’s not as powerful as the Craftsman M105. But what can you expect from a battery-powered mower, right!? It comes with one battery that lasts 45 minutes when fully charged.

Personally, I would have liked to see two batteries included. That way, one can be charging while the other is being used. On a more positive note, the batteries make it a lot quieter than a traditional gas-powered mower.

You’ll also be glad to hear it has a built-in sensor that can detect whether the grass is thick or thin. If it’s thin, the power will reduce, saving you precious battery life.

What’s more, it boasts a 16” cutting deck, which is on the smaller side. That’s why I recommend this mower for smaller lawns. There are also 5 cutting levels to choose from, allowing you to get the perfect height. What more could you want!?

What I Like…

  • Excellent grass catcher
  • Lightweight and maneuverable design
  • Very quiet
  • The built-in sensor knows when to increase or decrease power
  • 5 cutting levels

What I Don’t Like…

  • Only comes with one battery
  • The battery only lasts around 45 minutes

Best Feature: Built-in sensor

3.BLACK+DECKER Lawn Mower

BLACK+DECKER Lawn Mower
  • CORDED – Corded design offers unlimited runtime for even the biggest jobs.
  • POWERFUL ELECTRIC MOTOR – 13 Amp motor supplies ample power for cutting through thick grass and overgrowth.
  • WINGED BLADE – Optimal blade design for cutting and collecting grass.

Are you looking to cut tall overgrown grass!? The Black + Decker Lawnmower may be able to help. It’s got a powerful 13 amp motor, allowing it to overcome most obstacles.

But that’s not even the best thing…

The blades have a ‘curved’ design, making it easier to collect grass into the catcher. Have you ever cut your lawn, only to find it still covered in grass clippings!? That’s not going to happen with this mower!

The curved blade also makes it more effective when cutting grass. Power and efficiency combined – what more could you want!?

Unfortunately, this great combination does come with a slight downside. It’s corded, rather than battery-powered. This means it’s not good for commercial use. But your main concern is its ability to collect grass, right!?

In addition, it also has a 20-inch cutting deck. This allows you to cut small-medium size lawns in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the Greenworks Lawn Mower.

What I Like…

  • Great for overgrown grass
  • Blades have a curved design to help collect grass
  • Well-designed grass catcher
  • 20-inch cutting deck saves you time
  • 6 height levels to choose from

What I Don’t Like…

  • It’s corded
  • Can’t be used for commercial use

4.Worx Nitro WG753

Worx Nitro WG753
  • POWERFUL PERFORMANCE: Gas lawn mowers have met their match! With 40V power, this cordless mower boasts powerful cutting performance without the cost, emissions, loud noise, or maintenance of fuel
  • MADE STRONGER, LASTS LONGER: This push lawn mower is backed by a Brushless Motor 2.0 for 40% more power and 10% longer runtime than first-gen brushless motors. Plus, 10X longer life than brushed motors
  • SAME BATTERY, EXPANDABLE POWER: This electric lawn mower cordless tool is Power Share compatible. The same battery powers over 140+ 20V, 40V, and 80V lifestyle, garden, and power tools in the Power Share family

When the Worx Nitro arrives, the first thing you’ll notice is how small it is. They do say big things come in small packages though, right!? And that’s the best way to describe this mower.

The small design makes it lightweight, weighing only 75.8lbs. It’s also super compact, so you don’t need to worry about it clogging up your garage.

In addition, it’s battery-powered. And guess what!? You’ll get two included in your purchase, so you can charge one while the other is being used. This means you can experience uninterrupted mowing.

You can expect each battery to last around 40 minutes. However, this number may vary depending on a number of different factors.

Attached to the front are two LED highlights, letting you see in the dark. But let’s be honest, who mows the lawn during the night!?

When it comes to downsides, I found the grass catcher bag isn’t very big. This means you’ll need to empty it more, which can be an inconvenience for some people.

On a more positive note, you can see when the grass catcher is full because the orange flap will close.

What I Like…

  • Small and lightweight
  • Maneuverable design
  • Compact
  • Includes two batteries
  • LED headlights

What I Don’t Like…

  • The grass catcher isn’t very big
  • Not the most powerful mower

Best Feature: See When The Grass Catcher Is Full

So how about the performance?

Using this mower, you’ll be able to cut through thick residential lawns without issues. Many people talk about how it doesn’t stall, which can be common with other mowers on the market.

A word of warning though – it’s corded. You may need to purchase an additional extension lead if you don’t have a power source in your backyard. The good news!? It’s never going to run out of gas or oil!

What’s more, it’s the lightest lawnmower on this list. Not only does that make it easy to maneuver, but also great for people who struggle to push heavy mowers. I just wish it was self-propelled, right!?

How To Choose The Best Lawnmower For Collecting Grass Trimmings

Grass Catcher

If you want a lawnmower that collects trimmings, you need to find one with a grass catcher attached to the back. A grass catcher is a bag that collects excess grass and stores it until disposed of.

Is this your first time using a lawnmower!? Then make sure you’re changing the grass bag regularly, otherwise, it will get full and clogged with grass.

Type Of Blade

In some cases, you can find lawnmowers with curved blades. Curved blades help to propel trimmings into the grass catcher. These types of mowers are few and far between; however, the Black + Decker Lawnmower is a great example.

Gas VS Electric

Gas VS Electric is a long-debated topic. With so many varied opinions, it can be difficult to choose. My recommendation would be to stick with what you’re most comfortable with.

With that being said, if you’re mowing commercial lawns, a gas-powered mower is the more suitable option.

Reliability

What’s the point in buying a mower that doesn’t work after a week!? You need to choose something that’s reliable and has been used many times before. I recommend going for something designed by a reputable brand.

You should also check out the product reviews to get a better understanding of how the product works.

Final Verdict

While choosing a mower with a reliable good catcher is important, make sure you don’t skip out on other features such as power, reliability, and design. To recap, I recommend the Craftsman M105 because of its great grass bag, powerful engine, and 21” cutting blade.
